The Italian Greyhound Club of Canada (IGCC) is the national breed club for Italian Greyhounds in Canada under the by-laws of the Canadian Kennel Club.
Our purpose is the preservation & welfare of Italian Greyhounds in Canada through responsible breeding practices, continuing education of our members & the public, as well as providing rescue resources for IGs in need.
The breed standard outlines the ideal size, weight, structure, temperament, and movement for each breed recognized by the Canadian Kennel Club.
The IGCC creates the standard, and the CKC orders each breed into one of seven groups. In Canada, the IG is in the Toy group.
Despite its name, the Italian Greyhound did not actually originate in Italy!
From hunter to companion, the IG has a fascinating story that spans over 2000 years.
